About the Role

What we are looking for:

As a member of the AI Governance Research Team at Credo AI, you will help us define ideal governance practices for our customer’s diverse AI systems and work on applied research projects that utilize AI for governance, risk, and compliance. You will wear multiple hats and work at the intersection of policy, application and research. You will help develop innovative approaches to improve our risk and compliance product, act as an internal subject matter expert, and contribute to external thought leadership. While our company is focused on the governance of AI, one focus of our team is using AI for governance.

You are expected to have a demonstrated track record of excellence in your field and the desire to learn and grow. You should be familiar with the state of art in AI, and actively following advances in the field. Ideally, you have already made substantive contributions to AI governance or related fields. We are looking for individuals who are passionate and knowledgeable about AI safety and governance and are eager to make a significant impact as part of a dynamic team.


  • Demonstrated ability to produce excellent research.
  • Established expertise in a domain with significant AI governance relevance.
  • Desire and ability to connect research ideas with the iterative nature of startup product development.
  • Broad familiarity with the field of AI governance.

Nice to haves:

  • Possess knowledge and interest in AI risk, compliance and ongoing policy developments.
  • Deep interest in the lasting implications of artificial intelligence
  • Technical experience (our team’s work technical work is in Python).
  • Have a solid understanding and experience with technical components of Large Language Models (LLMs), including deploying open-source models, fine-tuning,  and reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF).

Location & Remote Culture

We are a fully distributed company and are comfortable hiring in any location (location-specific legal requirements permitting). While this is a remote role and we're a fully distributed team, we routinely meet up in-person. The expected salary range for this position is $130K - $180K. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
